As I find them, I will add research and studies on spaying/neutering too early and the negative affects it can cause.
PLEASE understand I am absolutely in no way saying that you should leave your dog intact as I know that is not at all ideal or reasonable for most pet owners who do not want to show or breed, however this is more about WHEN is appropriate in doing so to ensure the health and longevity of your dog.
I highly recommend, if possible, waiting until at LEAST 12-18 months of age when all growth plates are closed and hormonal sexual maturity has been reached.
